Shark fishing charter off of Gloucester, MA can make for a exciting day. We have a handful of different shark species that show up off of Gloucester. Such as blue sharks, mako sharks, porbeagle sharks and thresher sharks. To consistently catch big sharks you need to head a bit off shore to find the right structure and put a large amount of fresh chum in the water. Once we have established a long chum slick, it is just a matter of time till the sharks show up.
Shark Fishing Charter Technique
The Karen Lynn is the perfect boat for these extended offshore trips. We fight sharks on high quality stand-up gear, with top-of-the line Braid harnesses. We will typically catch multiple blue sharks (catch and release only) up to 300 pounds and the occasional mako, probeagle or thresher. Taking other species is dependent on current federal regulations. In general, we urge our customers to catch and release, as most of the sharks we catch are blue sharks which are not good eating at all. Occasional we do come across other species other than the blue shark and those can be good eating. We also run allot of combo trips where you can fish for cod and haddock while shark fishing which can make for a great trip!
